"Great Blizzard" is an exciting board game for the entire family. "Old Man Winter" has given many communities, including Chicago, a good dose of what a city must endure during a "Great Blizzard." This Blizzard features Chicago and has roads familiar to all in the area. It recreates the actual travel and working conditions the people experience on a normal winter day which suddenly turned into an almost unbelievable storm scene. The game starts on the "Sunny Side" of the brightly colored board, with players trying to complete the trip to five Destination Circles (Work, Bank, Drugstore, Foodstore and Hardware) and get back home first. However, at an undetermined point in the game, someone will draw a Weather Card which announces "The Blizzard Strikes," and at that point the game changes dramatically. Play continues on the "Blizzard Side" of the board, where the player may encounter many hazards such as zero visibility, accidents, a stalled bus and many others. He may even find himself in Jail for failing to observe the Driving Ban. With travel nearly impossible, one's salvation may be in the Blizzard Cards, which give occasional privileges like the use of a snowmobile or help from the National Guard. A Lucky draw of the card in which the President declares a Disaster Area may well be the winning edge one neeeds. People love to look back and reflect on what has taken place, laugh about the events of the past and replay the whole story.
